Despite going down hard, Braxton Miller is "symptom free". - Kirk Irwin
After a real scare during Ohio State's 29-22 overtime victory over Purdue, the Buckeyes' sophomore QB is said to be alright.
After undergoing a litany of tests, an Ohio State spokesperson said Saturday night that Braxton Miller is "symptom free" and is expected to be released from Ohio State Medical Center shortly. Miller was examined and evaluated for what was believed to be a shoulder, head, or neck injury, but passed tests across the board (as well an evaluation for concussions) and should be going home shortly.
In Miller's absence, his understudy and the so-called "Coach" Kenny Guiton led Ohio State to an emphatic come from behind victory after tying the game late and then taking the team's first lead since the third quarter in the extra session. While Guiton seemingly always has provided strong leadership and a calming influence in the huddle, Ohio State fans (and surely those on and coaching the team alike) will feel a sense of great relief should Miller be able to suit up without missing much time. Whether Ohio State proceeds cautiously and sits Miller remains to be seen.
It's important to remember that after serious scares like this, sometimes the real soreness and pain may take several days before they're apparent. If Miller doesn't miss much practice time and continues to be cleared by the team's doctors, it's not out of the realm of possibilities that he suits up against Penn State next weekend. Of course given how hard he went down, it wouldn't be shocking if the Buckeyes took precautionary measures and sat him either.
