WR Ra'Shaad Samples, an Ohio State verbal offer recipient, went through with his plan to announce his verbal commitment at Nike's The Opening, 2012. In the midst of a 7-on-7 football game, Ohio State running back commit Ezekiel Elliott gave his best eleventh hour effort to try and land the services of his friend:
It didn't work, as a short time later, Samples gave his verbal commitment to that other OSU, Oklahoma State University. You certainly can't blame Elliott for trying.
