Ohio State and Notre Dame will meet in the 2013 Gotham Classic on December 21st in Madison Square Garden, according to a press release from the Gazalle Group. Last year's final, a thrilling 83-79 Temple upset over Syracuse, drew over 12,000 fans.
Notre Dame is currently ranked #21 with a 20-6, 8-5 record. They'll be without leading scorer Jack Cooley and second leading rebounder Scott Martin, as both will graduate. Ohio State only graduates Evan Ravenel, but it's pretty likely that Deshaun Thomas will head to the NBA, so both teams will have to replace some scoring.
Either way, it will give Ohio State another "name" opponent for next season, along with whoever they play in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Plus, unlike one of their marquee games this year, MSG is unlikely to have the same weather-related problems that came up from trying to play on a boat.
