The champions of the Big Ten Tournament, Ohio State, and the second seed in the topsy turvy West Region, will take on the 6-seeded Arizona in Sweet Sixteen action Thursday night. The game will tip off at 7:47 p.m. EDT on TBS (channel 1203 on Time Warner Columbus-Delaware).
The Buckeyes punched their ticket in dramatic fashion knocking off the 10-seeded Iowa State on an Aaron Craft 3-pointer with just .05 seconds to play. Arizona's road to the Sweet 16 was a bit more anticlimactic with the Wildcats shaking off their Pac-12 Tournament semifinals loss by blowing past Belmont, 81-64, and then rolling the upstart Harvard Crimson, 74-51.
Deshaun Thomas sets the tone for the Buckeyes averaging 19.6 points per game and 6.1 rebounds while U of A is lead by senior guard, Mark Lyons. The Schnectady, New York native averages 14.8 points per game for the Wildcats. Fellow senior Solomon Hill, a 6-7 forward, is close behind, averaging 13.3 points per game.
In terms of the opening betting action, the various powers that be in Vegas foresee the Buckeyes starting out as 4 point favorites. The lone dissenter of the group, Sportsbook, sees OSU with a 3.5 point edge. As always, wager responsibly, but those projections sound about par for the course.
