Urban Meyer on Carlos Hyde: "If you're charged...you're released"

The Buckeyes' head coach made the television rounds on various ESPN properties with consistent talking points at each.

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer made the rounds as part of ESPN's "CarWash" series, appearing on SportsCenter, ESPN2's First Take, and The Herd with Colin Cowherd less than a day after announcing senior tailback Carlos Hyde would be suspended for "at least the first 3 games" following an incident at a Columbus dance club.

Amongst the prevalent talking points (which were heard in some form or another during all three appearances):

"High profile players obviously represent your university. Anytime you're talking about domestic issues, you have to take action."

"We have a zero tolerance policy. If you’re charged with a domestic issue, you’re released from the program."

"Absolutely [there should be a higher standard for these guys]. You have to be fair, because they’re human, but they’re high profile guys."

"Every player situation you’re involved in, every recruit situation, will always be in the back of your mind."

"I have been fortunate enough to coach some Heisman candidates from Alex Smith to Chris Leak to Tim Tebow... Braxton Miller is focused on becoming a great player."

Meyer also mentioned the emergence of last year's leaders (including Zach Boren) and later on Colin Cowherd's show stated "We’re not Alabama fast. We brought in 4-5 freshmen that run sub 4.4, 4.5…" "Will they play?" "They have to play."
