Per a release from the Ohio State football team, upperclassmen Adam Griffin and Jamie Wood's careers are likely over due to respective shoulder issues.

According to an Ohio State spokesperson, the careers of Ohio State defensive backs Adam Griffin and Jamie Wood are likely over with shoulder injuries.

Griffin, the son of legendary Ohio State running back Archie Griffin, was one of the final pieces of Jim Tressel's class of 2010. Though many fans initially wondered about his bonafides, Griffin, who was a backup that played in all of Ohio State's 2012 games recording 13 tackles, was a work horse on special teams the last several years. The athletic department spokesperson reported that Griffin had surgery on the shoulder this morning.

Wood played in four games last season after bouncing back from a first shoulder injury before re-injuring it. Prior to that, he'd appeared in all 26 games from 2010 to 2011, recording 20 tackles (11 solo). As a result of the chronic issues, a return had been considered improbable.

While Wood's eligibility is exhausted at season's end, the fourth-year junior Griffin would've had one season of eligibility remaining. Assuming Ohio State successfully applies for a medical waiver, that scholarship would be opened up for the still capped by the NCAA 2014 class.
