After a promising start to his NBA career was curtailed by injury, former Buckeye and current Boston Celtic Jared Sullinger was hoping to start off his second season on a positive note. Instead, it looks like he's done the exact opposite.
Per MyFoxBoston:
WALTHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Boston Celtics forward Jared Sullinger was arrested following a domestic situation over the weekend with his girlfriend.
Police said Sullinger arrived at the police station 6 a.m. Tuesday to turn himself in.
Sullinger is charged with assault and battery, malicious destruction of property and witness intimidation.
According to police, the incident happened early Saturday evening.
Sullinger is due in Waltham District Court Tuesday.
This comes as a surprise to most fans, as Sullinger never had a hint of off the court trouble at Ohio State.
Sullinger was also expected to take a larger role with the Celtics, following the trade of
Kevin Garnett and
Paul Pierce to the
Brooklyn Nets, assuming he was healthy, but this legal situation may muddy the waters a bit.
Sullinger averaged 6.0 points and 5.9 rebounds last season.
