Happy Homecoming, Buckeye Nation! We've voted on our king and queen, had our parade, and now, it's time for some football. This year's match-up is against Big Ten newcomer Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are so far doing much better than many people predicted back before the season started; they only have one loss so far from a close but low scoring game against Penn State. I doubt anyone guessed that we'd have the same record as Rutgers going into this game. Let's take a look at how to catch all the action, as well as what else is happening today in the conference and the nation.
When and where is the game this week?
It's Homecoming, so the game is in Columbus. (The team "comes home;" get it?) Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. ET. There's a slight chance of rain and chilly weather, so if you'll be at the game, maybe pack a hoodie and a poncho.
I'm not going to be there. What are my options?
Luckily for Ohio State fans everywhere, no one should have any issues watching this game. Most of the country, including Ohio, will get the game on ABC. Everyone else will get the game on ESPN 2. Check out the map below to find out how to watch where you live.
Rutgers Ohio State coverage map In addition to watching on TV, the game will be available online at Watch ABC (for people living in the ABC portion of the map) and ESPN3 (for everyone). You can also listen to the radio broadcast of the game on 97.1 The Fan FM or your local Ohio State radio network affiliate. No one should have any difficulties enjoying the game this week.
Have we ever played Rutgers before?
Nope. This is the first meeting ever between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. May it be the first in a long series of wins for Ohio State.
Where can I find the GameDay team this week? Are they still wandering around Mississippi?
Herbstreit and the gang have made it out of Mississippi but are still hanging around in the South like old people after Christmas. College GameDay will return to Tallahassee for the second time this season, where the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles will take on No. 5 Notre Dame. This game should be big. Both teams are going into this game 6-0. Two top-five teams battling to stay undefeated will surely be a game that you don't want to miss. That game will be on ABC and ESPN3 at 8 p.m. ET, right after our game is done. With Ohio State still hoping to make its way up in the rankings in time to impress the selection committee, the results of this game could have a big impact on where we play come January.
Is anything exciting going on in the B1G today?
Once again, it's looking like it'll be a bit of a slow day for the conference. At noon we have Purdue at Minnesota and Iowa at Maryland. Ohio State and Rutgers play at 3:30 alongside Michigan State at Indiana, and Nebraska plays Northwestern at 7:30. Penn State, our opponent for next week, has a bye.
Enjoy your Homecoming weekend, Buckeye fans. If you have questions for next week's game against Penn State, let me know in the comments or on Twitter. If you want to spend all day in front of the TV, then the chart below should prove to be very helpful.
