Ohio State recruiting: Buckeyes set to host two big visitors this weekend

Christian Kirk has already arrived on campus.

Ohio State is hosting two big time visitors this weekend.

It has been quite a while since Ohio State has hosted top players in the 2015 recruiting class as the focus had been on the 2014 class since the beginning of December.

That's set to change this weekend as Ohio State is hosting two of the top players in the class in the form of Scottsdale (AZ) Saguaro wide receiver Christian Kirk and Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga defensive back/athlete Marcus Lewis.

Christian Kirk, 5-star

The number two wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite rankings is coming to Columbus all the way from Arizona to see Ohio State for the first time. This visit isn't any kind of "Midwest swing", as he's only making the long trip from the warm weather to check out Ohio State's Columbus campus.

While he's in Columbus, he'll be able to check out the campus, spend a lot of time with the coaching staff, and also get a little taste of an Ohio winter. This visit is huge for the Buckeyes as it will be the staff's chance to make a good early impression on a player who is listed as an early enrollee. The 5'10, 195-pound playmaker has been told that he would be used in the world famous "Percy Harvin role" if he decided to play his football in Columbus.

Right now, Oregon and Texas A&M are the likely leaders for Kirk's commitment, but a good visit to Columbus this weekend could definitely change the game for his recruitment. He has already had the opportunity to meet Ohio State legend Archie Griffin on the trip.

We hope to have more on his visit once it's over.

Marcus Lewis, 4-star

Kirk is not the only speedy visitor the Buckeyes will have on campus this weekend. They'll also be hosting Marcus Lewis, a speedster from the nation's capital.

Lewis told me that he visit will occur tomorrow and Sunday. He also told me what he's looking forward to doing on the visit a couple of days ago.

"Yes, I will (be at Ohio State this weekend)," Lewis told Land-Grant Holy Land. "(I'm) looking (forward) to spending some time with coach Meyer and coach (Chris) Ash, seeing the facilities, and seeing the campus."

It's difficult to get a read on Lewis right now as to who might lead for his commitment, but I think the Buckeyes are going to be a major player in his recruitment. We should know a lot more on where he stands with the Scarlet and Gray on Sunday after his visit wraps up.

I'll be talking to Lewis Sunday afternoon to get the full scoop on his visit to Ohio State.
