A rather quiet Wednesday in the world of Ohio State recruiting. However, the Buckeyes did receive good news in regards to a 5-star PF in the 2015 recruiting class. The other news that came about yesterday would be that the leader of the 2017 recruiting class will be on campus today.
Starting with the basketball Buckeye recruiting news, Ohio State made the trimmed down list of '15 PF Elijah Thomas. The Lancaster High School big-man included the Buckeyes with Florida, Illinois, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas, SMU, UNLV and USC. The 6'9, 240-pounder is ranked at 11th in the 2015 basketball rankings. Thomas also stands at 4th out of all power forwards in this class and he is the 1st ranked player in the lone star state.
Down to ten! 🙏 blessed to be in this position ! 🏀— Elijah Thomas⛅️ #BSM (@EliCTMDThomas15) March 26, 2014
From the looks of things, the Buckeyes will be playing catch-up to a few schools to land the talented forward. As things currently stand, Thomas' likely destination would be SMU or Oklahoma State according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Though the Buckeyes are not in the best position to land Thomas, making the top 10 is still a positive for Thad Matta and staff.
The leader of the 2017 recruiting class, '17 QB Danny Clark, will be on campus later today. Clark committed to the Buckeyes in the middle of December and has been on campus numerous times throughout the recruiting process.
The 6'4, 205-pound signal-caller for the Tigers of Massillon will be taking in practice on his visit to Ohio State. The talented Clark was the winner of the quarterback competition at Massillon this year and this is as a freshman. It's easy to see why the Buckeyes wanted to get him into the fold very earlier and it helped that he was a Buckeye fan growing up.
- Wisconsin offered '15 PF Esa Ahmad from Shaker Heights High School. The Ohio State target will be taking visits to MSU, West Virginia, Indiana and others in the coming weeks.
- Ohio State Buckeye commit A.J. Harris sits at 100 on the newly released Rivals.com rankings for the 2015 recruiting class. For more, check out LGHL's own Zach Fleer's write up on the Top 100.
- Ohio State Buckeye target Carlton Bragg sits at 10 in the Rivals.com ranking, which all but tells why the Buckeyes will need to keep him in-state.
