Fort Lauderdale (FL) American Heritage athlete/quarterback Torrance Gibson finally made it to Ohio State for a visit yesterday and competed in Friday Night Lights, where he was up and down, but did look quite good throwing the football in parts of the camp.
Gibson has the chance to be a special player, whether it be at the quarterback spot or wide receiver if things don't work out under center. In fact, I think he could be a top five pick in the NFL draft if he focused exclusively on wide receiver; he's that special an athletic talent. I do think Gibson could successfully run Ohio State's spread offense as a quarterback, though.
It was huge to get him on campus for that first visit, and things went so well that he named the Buckeyes as his leader on the visit. He told us that Urban Meyer is one of the major reasons the Buckeyes are now in the lead.
"Urban Meyer is one of the best head coaches in college football. You have to respect that," Gibson told Land-Grant Holy Land. "But he also has proof because of his work with a left-handed quarterback who won the Heisman. Plus their spread attack offense works for me."
Ohio State University is my current leader! My list isn't changing anymore.

The "My list isn't changing anymore" part of his tweet is very interesting. One would think that he effectively committed if he wasn't going to change his list again.
In any event, the Buckeyes moved back into good position to land him, but there's a very strong chance this recruitment could stretch on for a couple of more months as his current decision date is set for October.
Gibson said he would like to make his official visit to Ohio State for the Michigan game in November after his camp performance last night.
