Earlier this week, a bit of a mock controversy broke out when Brian Kelly was purported to have said that he'd take his two quarterbacks over Ohio State's.
Let's humor the situation for a moment and say this was taken 100% in context (despite all the outlets writing about it, contextually, it kind of wasn't). Even if he was being completely earnest, what is a coach supposed to say about his guys exactly?
But even though Kelly was back tracking after having said (again, a bit tongue-in-cheek) just seconds prior that he'd take his guys over anyone "besides maybe Ohio State's", that doesn't mean a certain light hearted Buckeye quarterback couldn't have some fun with the whole fervor.
During a SportsCenter conversation with ESPN's Tom Rinaldi, in a great segment during which both Jones and fellow OSU quarterback derby competitor J.T. Barrett said all the right things about their friendly competition and what might happen if they were relegated to a backup role, Jones dropped this gem:
To be quite honest, this should almost be a point in Cardale's favor as he tries to keep his role as the defending national champions' starting quarterback.
