With Gene Smith continuing to embrace a college football scheduling model of pursuing the biggest and the best, following recently announced dates with both the TCU Horned Frogs and the University of Texas Longhorns, the Ohio State Buckeyes will both be visiting and playing host to the Oregon Ducks beginning in 2020 and continuing the next season in 2021. The Buckeyes will go to Autzen Stadium in 2020 and host the Ducks in Ohio Stadium the following year.
While if history's indication there's very likely going to be different head men in charge by the time these contests finally role around (and to be honest, both programs are likely to look very different when the games' times come), adding match ups like this continue to boost Ohio State's schedule strength in a post-BCS college football landscape. Also, just imagine what Oregon's Nike clad uniforms will look like almost a decade from now.
Adding an opponent of Oregon's caliber now gives the Buckeyes with Cal, Cincinnati, Navy, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, TCU, and Virginia Tech on future Ohio State football schedules.
Ohio State is unbeaten at 8-0 against the Ducks all-time.
