Courtesy of Nebraska's come from behind 32-23 win over Penn State, the Ohio State Buckeyes are officially (at least the co-) 2012 Big Ten Leaders Division champions. They'll receive hardware for their troubles, but as you're probably all too aware, are not eligible to represent the division in Indianapolis for the 2012 Big Ten Championship Game. The Cornhuskers still control their own destiny in the Legends Division race with Michigan lurking not far behind. Should Nebraska win out, they'll meet Wisconsin, who earned a de facto birth in the game courtesy of Ohio State's post season ban. Congratulations, Bret Bielema. Regardless of what happens next weekend, you've really earned it.
So what does this mean for Ohio State fans? Do they dare brag about a division championship in an otherwise lost season they can't really do anything about? Let's hope not. But knowing the athletic department, we can probably expect a commemorative t-shirt in the not too distant future.
