Ohio State has an unexpected addition to their class of 2013. Dublin Scioto fullback William Houston announced on Twitter Wednesday evening that he would be joining Ohio State to play football for them next fall. While Houston was not offered a scholarship by the Buckeyes, he'd camped previously at Ohio State this past July and had an extended offer to join the team as a preferred walk-on. Essentially this guarantees Houston a spot on the team, but he won't count against the team's scholarship limit (helpful given their NCAA restrictions) and will have to pay his own way to attend the university.
Houston was graded as a 3-star fullback by both Scout and Rivals and while he was unrated by 247, was heralded by both of the other major scouting services as being the fifth best fullback in the 2013 class. Houston had also seen Ohio State play when he traveled to Happy Valley last month to take in the Ohio State-Penn State game. Though Ohio State doesn't often employ a fullback in Tom Herman and Urban Meyer's offense, Houston has also been projected by some to play fullback at the next level. Sounds like a certain other FB/LB we all know.
Here's the words straight out of the horses mouth announcing his commitment to Ohio State:
I will be playing football for The Ohio State University, in the fall. #GoBuckeyes #BuckeyeNation
