Coming off of an impressive showing against Illinois on Saturday, Ohio State moved to 10-0 on the season. At the same time, high school teams across the country played in some of their final regular season games. Other teams were fortunate enough to find themselves in the action of the first round of their respective post seasons, which happened to include some future Buckeyes.
While the hunt continues for the best prospects in 2013, February (and National Signing Day) inches closer as we enter November football. Let's take a look at how the current Ohio State commitments played in their games this week.
DE Joey Bosa - St. Thomas Aquinas and defensive end Joey Bosa defeated Cooper City 53-0. Bosa played a large part in keeping Cooper City off the scoreboard in the rout.
ATH Jalin Marshall - Jalin Marshall and Middletown have ended their season. They did not play this weekend, but Jalin will certainly be preparing for his Ohio State career in the near future.
DE Tracy Sprinkle - Elyria and defensive end Tracy Sprinkle didn't play this weekend, as they did not make the playoffs. Sprinkle's season is over, but what a performance he put on week in and week out.
ATH Ezekiel Elliott - Superb athlete Ezekiel Elliott had another big game, as he contributed four rushing touchdowns and another touchdown coming on a kickoff return as St. Louis Burroughs defeated Manchester Kennedy 56-14.
QB JT Barrett - Wichita Falls (Texas) Rider defeated Denton 40-7. Quarterback JT Barrett did not play as he recovers from season ending knee surgery.
DE Tyquan Lewis - Tarboro and DE/OLB Tyquan Lewis played against Wilson Beddingfield over the weekend, but we were unable to track down any of the stats.
ATH Darron Lee - Darron Lee completed 4 of 9 passes for 105 yards as New Albany defeated Columbus Beechcroft 25-6 in the first round of the state playoffs. New Albany will move on to the second round of the state playoffs. In case you aren't aware, New Albany plays in Division II.
OL Tim Gardner - Lawrence Central and offensive lineman Tim Gardner defeated Indianapolis North Central 21-7 to move to 12-0 on the season. Gardner has been essential to Central's success on the offensive side of the football, helping protect the quarterback and opening up holes for his running backs.
CB Cam Burrows - Trotwood-Madison and defensive back Cam Burrows defeated Cincinnati Mt. Healthy 48-0. Another shut out for a future Buckeye, and Burrows helped his team to victory.
DL Michael Hill - Pendleton defeated Prosperity Mid-Carolina 9-6 to move to 8-3 on the season. Defensive tackle Michael Hill did not play. Hill is out for the rest of the season after having finger surgery.
S Jayme Thompson - Toledo Central Catholic and defensive back Jayme Thompson rolled over Grafton Midview 50-7 in the first round of the state playoffs. With the victory the Fighting Irish moved to 10-1 on the season and will start preparing for their next opponent.
ATH Taivon Jacobs - Taivon Jacobs caught three passes for 74 yards with a touchdown as District Heights (Md.) Suitland defeated Greenbelt Eleanor Roosevelt 49-7 tonight.
DL Billy Price - Austintown Fitch lost to Cleveland St. Ignatius 35-26 in the first round of the playoffs, ending Billy Price's season. Price had a valiant effort, as he went both ways for Fitch. When Price was on defense St. Ignatius ran away from his side quite a bit. Price still had three tackles for loss.
P Johnny Townsend - Orlando Boone and punter Johnnie Townsend defeated Orlando Cypress Creek 21-14 as Boone evened its record at 4-4 on the season.
