Regardless of not making a tremendous impact for the Ohio State Buckeyes over the last several seasons, in a complete surprise, defensive back Nate Ebner heard his name called In the 6th round, at the 27th pick (197th overall) by the New England Patriots
Talk about the ultimate Bill Belichick pick. Ebner will head to the Boston-area as fully moldable clay having not seen a ton of time in the defensive backfield while in Columbus. Most expect Ebner's best chance to make an impact for the defending AFC champs will be playing special teams. Ebner was the Buckeyes' gunner on special teams in 2011 and may have a shot to reprise the role at the next level.
Ebner did turn some heads recently by running a reported 4.4 forty yard dash and may have sealed his selection at Ohio State's pro day.
Congratulations to Nate Ebner. Talk about blazing your own trail.
