UPDATE: Per Sean Fitz of PSU's 247Sports site, Lions247, Anzalone is no longer considering Ohio State.
Anzalone also told Alex Gleitman of Eleven Warriors there's a reason behind the decommitment but he doesn't want to say and doesn't think he'll reconsider OSU".

Could Alex Anzalone be the first in a series of dominos following the revelation that Ohio State superfan Eric Waugh wasn't exactly what he seemed? It'd be horrible to think that one outlandish exaggeration of a worst case scenario would shake someone so deeply to the core (particularly given the so many supportive salt of the earth type fans comprising, oh, 99.9% of the rest of the fan base), though it'd be hard to fault him given the circumstances.
Anzalone is close with both Mike Heureman, brother of Jeff and Notre Dame Commit, and defensive end prospect Joey Bosa, the other two recruits mentioned in the story. It'd be one thing if this was a case of three fast friends from the recruiting process deciding to play their college ball together. Let's hope it's not rooted in less fortunate origins.
