Urban Meyer appears to be channeling his days at Florida during which he had two difference making punters. Per special teams guru/kicking, punting, and long snapping camp instructor Chris Sailer:
Top Punter at Alabama camp, Johnny Townsend, has committed to Ohio State on full scholarship. Congratulations. #OhioState #Buckeyes

On Tuesday, reports began making their way out that Ohio State had garnered the full scholarship commitment of Johnny Townsend. Just a week ago the Boone HIgh School Orlando, Florida product won the 2012 Nick Saban Punting Competition held at the campus of the University of Alabama.
Few (if any) of the major recruiting sites had any insight on Townsend as he joins Ohio State's list of commits as a relative unknown (other than his accomplishes a few weeks back). According to Townsend himself, the senior to be is 6'2", 200 lbs and also purports to play some free safety and quarterback. Most remarkably of all, Towsend professes to run a 4.59 40 (lol). Townsend becomes Ohio State's 12th commit for the Class of 2013.
It should be interesting to see if Ohio State decides to start putting any committable OG offers out in lieu of Towensend. For highlights of Townsend doing his championship caliber punting thing, click after the jump:
