The Opening 2012: 7 On 7 Rosters (And The Future Buckeyes On Them)

Nike's The Opening 2012 announced the results of their 7-on-7 roster draft Friday evening. A few prominent Ohio State verbal commitments and recruiting target make up the pairings (which can be watched live on ESPNU Saturday evening beginning at 8 pm EST). The rosters break down as follows:

Team Land Sharks:

The highlights include Michigan verbal commit QB Shane Morris on the opposing side of the ball from Ohio State verbal S Jayme Thompson. Ohio State verbal offer Virginia Beach RB Taquan Mizzell joins them along with fellow verbal offer Orlando product WR Levonte Whitfield.

Team Alpha Speed:

Ohio State verbal commit tight end Marcus Baugh joins fellow commit CB Cameron Burrows. Also on the side is Ohio State verbal offer recipient wide out Laquon Treadwell and Penn State verbal commit QB Christian Hackenberg.

Team Field Generals:

Ohio State verbal commit cornerback prospect Eli Woodard joins the man of the hour, combine wunderkind (and supposed heavy Ohio State lean) LB Mike Mitchell join Michigan commit CB Jourdan Lewis and naturally notorious ex-Ohio State verbal LB Alex Anzalone. Adding fuel to the fire, Anzalone had this to say after Mitchell left virtually all of his peers in his dust Friday evening:

Should be interesting to see how he and Mitchell coexist on the field.

Team Vapor Carbon:

Ohio State verbal commit andprospective 'Pivot', the role made famous by Percy Harvin at Florida, Jalin Marshall joins Ohio State verbal offer Quin Blanding, a defensive back from Virginia Beach who looks to play cornerback in the competition.

Team Super Bad:

In perhaps one of the most interest pairs of all, Ohio State verbal commit running back Ezekiel Elliot is paired in the backfield with Ohio State verbal offer and running back target Derrick Green. Green is close to current Ohio State likely starting Mike linebacker Curtis Grant and could be leaning towards potentially joining Elliot for the 2013 season in Columbus.
