Ohio State recruiting recap: week of 9/23/12

New, 3 comments

Head coach Urban Meyer and his staff have turned their attention and focus on the first conference game of the season against Michigan State.

Raekwon McMillian prepares to feast.

In what should be one of the more difficult tests for the Buckeyes (they're on the road for the first time, MSU is one of the better teams in the conference) all eyes will be on Braxton Miller and his teammates.

While the spotlight will be in East Lansing, you can bet that Mark Pantoni and the rest of the recruiting staff on Ohio State are preparing to cover all fields of the recruiting game itself.

One of the biggest pieces of news came just yesterday when we learned that '13 wide receiver target James Quick will be visiting Ohio Stadium when the Buckeyes take on the Cornhuskers next weekend. Keep in mind that this is an unofficial visit, but is no doubt huge for the recruiting staff in their attempts to bring in top-notch receivers and speed. Expect the red carpet to be rolled out on all counts.

Linebacker is a spot that will need to be upgraded and we're certain that many Ohio State fans would agree. The recruiting staff is well aware of the situation and is doing their best to recruit the best student-athletes that the country has to offer.

One of those linebackers includes '14 recruit Clifton Garrett who visited Notre Dame this past weekend. This was Garrett's first college football visit and he noted that he "had a great time". It's going to be an interesting race to watch how his recruitment plays out.

Ohio State picked up good news in the class of 2014 when some of the bigger names at running back trimmed their list to three and included Ohio State. Derrell Scott (Havelock, N.C./Havelock) and Mikel Horton (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) like what they see in the Buckeyes as they move forward in the recruiting process. Scott has offers from all three of his top choices and has narrowed things down to Florida State, Ohio State and South Carolina.

2013 offensive lineman commit Tim Gardner had a few words about his recruitment and how he ended up choosing the Buckeyes:

Hooray, more videos! '14 quarterback target Drew Barker's mid-season highlights:

Highlights of newly offered Montae Nicholson (more on that at the end of the post):

What the hell. Let's do one more. Raekwon McMillan will feast on your children (probably):
