If you needed any more reason to be excited for the future of Ohio State football, look no further than the Ohio State verbal commitments participating in this weekend's US Army All-American Bowl. St Louis product (and the target of OSU DB coach Kerry Coombs' now immortal pitch to come to Columbus) 4-star RB Ezekiel Elliott bats leadoff, followed by Florida punter Johnny Townsend, 4-star DB Eli Apple (formerly Eli Woodard) of Voorhees, New Jersey, and 4-star OL Centerville, OH native Evan Lisle rounding out the group.
The four all state their allegiances to the Ohio State University then show they're already all in for the Buckeyes by spelling out O-H-I-O. All over a soundtrack of "Across the Field". Not too shabby at all.
So far, all the reports out of San Antonio (where this weekend's all-star game will take place) has been extremely positive about the four. Elliott's operated primarily out of the backfield (but also seen snaps at slot receiver) while Townsend's really been booming punts all week. A couple of reporters on hand at the event's practices have spoken positively of Apple's quiet confidence. And Lisle will certainly add to a core of offensive linemen that looked night-and-day better under the tutelage of Ed Warinner.
The future is awfully bright for Ohio State. If you're still not convinced, just tune in this weekend and see why.
