Those worrying about scholarship math just got a little bit of breathing room. The Ohio State University football program announced in a release Wednesday afternoon that freshman offensive lineman Joey O'Connor was no longer with the team. O'Connor was thought to be a flight risk for the better part of the last several months after it came out how he had trouble adjusting to life on a team ripe with big city players, where as O'Connor, a Windsor, Colorado prospect, considered himself more of a small town guy.
From the release per the university:
O'Connor, who red-shirted the 2012 season, has requested a transfer to be closer to home.
O'Connor was originally a Penn State commit, decommitted in November of 2011 before choosing the Buckeyes January 17th of 2012. His target transfer destination isn't known at this time.
