The 6'1 222 pound linebacker from Lawrenceville, Georgia was a big target for Ohio State, especially given that linebacker may be a position of need. Despite strong interest from Tennessee and Alabama, 4-star LB Trey Johnson has reaffirmed that he will don the Scarlet and Gray.
Many Buckeye fans were worried after hearing that Johnson had taken a secret trip to Knoxville yesterday. We reported that Johnson was going to visit a linebacker coach friend, and that the visit was more social than an indication that his commitment was wavering. It turns out we were correct.
Per Rivals, Johnson is ranked as the 7th best player in Georgia, and the 105st best in the nation. Scout has him listed as the 16th best linebacker prospect in the country.
Ohio State will continue to recruit Vonn Bell, who is also being sought by Alabama and Tennessee, but will return a talented crop of young linebackers next season either way, including Luke Roberts and Joshua Perry.
