Ohio State finishes third in final 2012-2013 season's AP Top 25 Poll

A tremendous year for Ohio State saw the Buckeyes finish as college football's only undfeated team and third overall in the AP Top 25.

The Buckeyes may have wrapped 2012 football season for the ages now well over a month ago against their hated rivals from Michigan, but following Alabama's lambasting of Notre Dame to win the 2013 BCS Championship Game, we finally know Ohio State's fate in the lone poll in which they were eligible to be ranked.

In a year that saw them previously get as high as fourth, Ohio State fans will have to settle for their team finishing third in the season's final college football AP Top 25. While some even thought the Buckeyes finishing 2012 as the sports' only unbeaten would give them an extremely outside shot at garnering some consideration for first place votes, the Buckeyes not only finished with none, but wound up behind the Oregon Ducks, who concluded their season with a dominant 35-17 victory over Kansas State.

Say what you will about Ohio State's strength of schedule (Sagarin ranks it as the 51st best in the country), but 12-0 certainly isn't what it used to be when a non-conference champion and a second one-loss team both finish ahead of you. Just more bulletin board material for Urban Meyer and his 2013 Ohio State football team, one would suppose.
