Smell that bye week air? It sure tastes much more...boring. Though after the nature of Ohio State's second straight tense Saturday night college football game I was certainly more than ready for a bit of a break, there's still a certain restless feeling to not having a Buckeyes football game to look forward to this weekend.
While you kill time to get to Ohio State-Iowa week, the Week 7 national college football slate certainly has a few contests worth keeping an eye on. As they always do the weekend they play, Texas and Oklahoma kick things off nice and early at noon eastern. Can the Longhorns keep things even remotely competitive? Missouri and Georgia also meet during the noon block in a surprise Top 25 SEC showdown. After their close call against Tennessee a week prior, UGA finds themselves but 8-point favorites in this one.
Though Kansas State is a shell of their 2012 Big 12 champion selves, they try to become the first team to slow down Art Briles' Baylor Bears in the afternoon round. Florida and LSU clash at 3:30 as well in a slate of top 20 SEC sides. If you're a B1G honk, you'll want to turn the TV channel to ABC6 in Columbus (or your respective local ABC affiliate) as Wisconsin plays host to the same Northwestern side that gave Ohio State all they could handle a week prior. Oregon-Washington is arguably your game of the week with a 4:00 p.m. ET start time.
Finally, in the night cap, Michigan and Penn State square off in a matinee at 5:00 p.m. Georgia Tech and BYU clash in Provo in what could be a running offense football aficionado's dream, and finally, Johnny Football and #9 Texas A&M travel to Oxford to take on Ole Miss at 8:30 in the Saturday night ESPN game.
