With a week of rest for the Ohio State players, the Buckeyes are ready to get back in action against the Hawkeyes on Saturday, two weeks removed from their 40-30 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats. The quarterback controversy almost reared its head again among many of the fans after Braxton Miller's turnovers against the Wildcats, but with a victory, that might have died down once more. Miller is listed as the starter at quarterback with Kenny Guiton as his proven backup. Miller has been the starter since his return against Wisconsin, so no real surprise there.
At running back, Carlos Hyde remains the starter, and after last week's impressive showing, will likely remain that way for the rest of the year barring any kind of injury. Jordan Hall will be Hyde's backup but is now listed as OR with Rod Smith. After missing the Northwestern game, coach Meyer says that Hall will used on special teams and as third down support.
At wide receiver, things remain the same with Devin Smith starting at "X" and Evan Spencer the starter at Z. Michael Thomas backs up Smith while Chris Fields backs up Spencer, just as before. Philly Brown maintains his position as the H-back with Dontre Wilson as his backup. Jeff Heuerman continues to be the starting tight end with Nick Vannett as his backup.
On defense, Joey Bosa is still listed as the starter in place of Adolphus Washington, who has been reported as healthy. We'll still likely see Washington get time on the line, but it's clear that the coaching staff feels Bosa's play deserves time as well. Joel Hale is the nose guard with Chris Carter OR Chase Farris backing him up and Michael Bennett (who had a great game against Northwestern) is still the starter at defensive tackle. Michael Hill will back Bennett up there. Tommy Schutt has been reported as healthy as well, but is not listed on the depth chart, so we'll see how many snaps he gets, if at all on Saturday.
Curtis Grant remains the starting middle linebacker in light of his father passing away during last week. Coach Meyer said in his press conference on Monday that Ohio State would fully support Grant throughout the process. Corey "Pittsburgh" Brown and C.J. Barnett are still listed as the starting safeties, with Bradley Roby and Doran Grant getting the nod at cornerback.
Here's the Iowa depth chart in its entirety:
