Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets 10/30 - Steven Gonzalez to get visit

Steven Gonzalez received news that he would be getting a visit from coach Meyer next week. Does this mean anything for the four-star guard? Curtis Samuel received a huge bump in ESPN's 300 for the class of 2014.

Kicking things off, coach Meyer and coach Warinner will be in to visit offensive line prospect Steven Gonzalez next Monday. With Ohio State having their second bye week of the season, it'll give the Buckeye's coaching staff an extra week to check in on recruits and lay the foundation for the 2015 class. At 6'5" 300 pounds, Gonzalez picked up his offer two weeks ago and looks to be part of a New Jersey pipeline the Buckeyes would love to start. Remember, this is what he had to say about his offer when it was picked up, there definitely seems to be a strong connection between him and Ed Warinner. Being from Jersey, the Scarlet Knights seem to be the favorite, but when dealing with 2015 kids at this point, anything can happen. Look for Ohio State to gain ground on the four-star guard starting early next week.

A fresh addition of ESPN's top 300 for the class of 2014 was released yesterday and a few Ohio State commits were on the move. Most notable, Curtis Samuel jumped from an unranked prospect to number 148, what he was doing unranked is beyond me. Samuel should continue to rise as he's one of the most electrifying players in the country and will have a great opportunity to gain playing time right away next season. Check out the full list of ESPN's 300 here.

At this point in the year high school football playoffs have or are on the brink of starting. Starting their quests for titles this week are Damon Webb, Dylan Thompson, Jamarco Jones, and Demetrius Knox. In addition, Terry McLaurin and Lonnie Johnson have propelled their teams to second round bids in the IHSAA Football State Tournament.

In case you missed it, Damon Webb and Cass Tech played in the PSL City Championship last Friday. His interception and two sacks helped lead the Technicians to a six point victory. Check out the game highlights, including his pick at 5:06, and his interview at 7:20.
