It's been almost 20 years College GameDay was in Evanston. But with Brent Musburger decked out in a purple and white jersey and perennial Big Ten powers Ohio State coming to town, what better time than now?
Northwestern's come a ways from their basketball-on-grass days â the NU offense's special sauce is more of a power run approach than many casual fans realize â but it does represent another challenge for Luke Fickell and the Ohio State defense. The Buckeyes' offensive assault, powered by Heisman contender Braxton Miller and senior tailback Carlos Hyde, is certainly no slouch in its own right.
Where things might get interesting is with the field conditions and the weather. With an apparently long green (the natural grass was said by those in attendance to be exceedingly long, not unlike Notre Dame's stadium used to be back in the good old days) that was unable to be mowed due to a long day of severe thunderstorms (there remains a high percentage likelihood of rain throughout the game), you might just see old school Big Ten football break out underneath the stars in Chicagoland.
