Ohio State received the second half kickoff and Carlos Hyde re-started the party with a 20 yard run the first play from scrimmage. With Kenny Guiton taking over duties at quarterback, the Buckeye offense didn't skip a beat. Scampering for 25 yards to convert a third down, Guiton then found Dontre Wilson on a swing pass to move inside the five yard line. On the next play, Kenny Guiton ran it in from four yards out.
After a huge hit by Ezekiel Elliott on the kick coverage team, the Ohio State defense continued to dominate as Ryan Shazier sacked Danny Etling for the Buckeye's fourth sack of the game. A big-time punt from Purdue pinned the Bucks inside their own 10 yard line, their worst starting field position of the day.
On a third and 12, Kenny Guiton tucked it and ran for again for 25 yards. After a heavy dose of Ezekiel Elliott vaulted the Buckeyes inside the Purdue 30, Ohio State elected to go for it on 4th and 7. The conversion failed and the Boilermakers were able to get a rare stop.
