Future Ohio State point guard A.J. Harris took time out of his day yesterday to chat about his upcoming season with Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio and to talk about how he sees himself fitting in as he prepares to play for head Coach Thad Matta and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
You guys (Dunbar High School) return a very talented squad, what are your expectations for this season?
My expectations for this year are to make my teammates better, and to also better myself, by taking one game at a time to get back to Ohio State Just working harder then everyone else to prepare myself for Ohio State.
What has the OSU coaching staff told you to work on and how do you see yourself fitting in to Coach Matta's system when you get there?
They haven't told me a lot that I need to work on but just work on my jump shot, which I do daily. I see myself as a player that will do anything to win when I get to Ohio State. I just want to be the best floor general in the country when I get there.
Playing for Coach Pullen at Dunbar, what have you learned playing in his system?
Just to be the best you can be, and to always work hard to get to the next level.
How would you describe your style of play to Buckeye hoops fans that may not be familiar with you?
A floor general. I really get my teammates involved before I shoot, and a person that will do anything to help the team win.
Harris also noted that he is currently not in contact with any '15, '16 Ohio State targets at the moment. Land-Grant Holy Land would like to thank A.J. Harris for taking time to briefly chat with us and we wish him the best of luck in the upcoming season.
Ohio State extended an offer to '15 ATH Shaun Crawford last night. The 5'9, 173-pound product from St. Edward (OH) is currently committed to Brady Hoke and the Wolverines. The 4-star Crawford comes in as the 96th-ranked player in the country as well as 10th at cornerback (plays wide receiver as well) and 5th in the state of Ohio. It is well noted that Crawford grew up as a Michigan supporter, so I do not believe this offer will do much in his recruitment. You can check out this newest recruit to grab an Ohio State offer in action below.
The staff wasn't done there as wide receivers coach Zach Smith gave a call to '15 OT Matthew Burrell. Ohio State has already sent out a scholarship offer to the 4-star lineman from Virginia, along with 21 other major programs.
Just got off the phone with coach Smith from Ohio state ! That's my guy! #BUCKEYES

One Buckeye commit and another Buckeye target were listed on the preseason All-USA team yesterday by USA Today. ' 14 SG D'Angelo Russell, who officially signed with Ohio State last week and '14 target Myles Turner made the list. The article, which is linked above, notes that Russell averaged 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while Turner averaged a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.
