After being played last season in Cincinnati due to renovations on Ohio Stadium, the 2014 Ohio State football spring game will be coming back to Columbus. The popular preseason scrimmage will be played on April 12th, 2014, and fans will get a special treat before football starts: a lacrosse showdown between Ohio State and Michigan. The lacrosse game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m with the football spring game following at 1:30 p.m..
“Our fans embrace the rivalry with Michigan so this is a special chance to introduce even more of Buckeye Nation to the sport of lacrosse," Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said. This will be the sixth time the Buckeyes and Wolverines face off before the Ohio State Spring Game.
Some had speculated that Ohio State may look to continuously play the spring game in other parts of the state (such as Cleveland or Canton), either to give Buckeyes fans who lived farther from Columbus a chance to see the team, or to shore up recruiting in places like Cincinnati. Instead, at least for this year, the game will be back in the friendly confines of Columbus. Make your plans accordingly.
