Ohio State-Walsh 2013: GameThread

Ohio State plays host to Division 2 Walsh in a season opening exhibition game.

A double technical under the new rules. Maybe.
A double technical under the new rules. Maybe.

Ohio State kicks off the 2013-2014 men's basketball season this afternoon against Walsh College. Okay, okay – they kick it off unofficially. This game is but an exhibition and won't count for their regular season win-loss total, but it still represents an important preseason marker for a team with limited action against teams other than themselves.

For Ohio State, the narratives are pretty well known: Aaron Craft gonna Aaron Craft, LaQuinton Ross is expected to pick up the load from the departed Deshaun Thomas, and pretty much everyone is hoping that Amir Williams continues to evolve as a down low presence.

Walsh? Well, not that many Ohio State fans are fearing the Cavs, but after their early hot shooting a year ago, we might as well be cognizant of the fact that they return 80% of their starting lineup. With two Division 1 transfers in toe, this is a better than your typical Division 2 side. And unlike in football, the talent divide between the two teams isn't as pronounced as it otherwise could be.

Below is your Ohio State-Walsh GameThread. Whether you're listening on the radio or taking in the online stream like many of us, we're thrilled to have you with us. Be cool with each other, and should the temptation strike, type "@oracle gif me" or "@oracle gif me subject" where the word subject is replaced by one of these categories.
