Ohio State and Nike have teamed up to outfit the men's basketball team in a throwback uniform for select games this season. Land-Grant Holy Land can confirm that the Buckeyes will be wearing the latest Nike technology for games against Adidas schools, likely Michigan and Wisconsin.
Ohio State was not the only Nike school chosen to break out throwback uniforms this season, as will be the case at Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State, and Texas. While it is currently unknown what time period the Buckeyes, Longhorns, or Wildcats will honor, the Blue Devils will be honoring the 1991 or 1992 national championship team, the Spartans will honor the 1979 or 2000 national champions.
Last season, Ohio State opted to wear a special Nike Hyper Elite uniform, donning the threads on the road against Michigan, and then again in Madison, Wisconsin. The red uniform, which used Nike's lightest material yet, featured Ohio State's athletic logo prominently on the chest, breaking the traditional mold of a basketball uniform.
Nine other schools wore the uniform, including North Carolina, Villanova, Southern California, Kentucky, Georgetown, Duke, Texas, Gonzaga, and Michigan State.
