Ohio State started out with the ball to start the second half and Carlos Hyde and Braxton Miller took over. Carlos Hyde gave the Bucks some momentum with an 18 yard rush which Miller then followed with one of 24 yards of his own. With the offense really clicking, Braxton Miller took off around the left side of the line to the end zone and tie the game up at 17.

Attempting to pin the Spartans back on the kickoff, the Buckeyes left it just short of the goal line and the drive started at the MSU 29 yard line. Facing a third down, Connor Cook looked for a short pass, but CJ Barnett stepped in front to pick off the pass giving Ohio State great field position.

After picking up a first down behind Carlos Hyde, the Spartans stiffened to force an Ohio State punt. Cameron Johnston took the field and punted a beauty, pinning Michigan State inside their own five yard line with just over nine minutes to play in the quarter.

With a huge stop by the Buckeyes, they gained control of the ball on the right side of the 50 yard line. A Jordan Hall rush moved the ball to the 14 yard line and, from there, it was Miller time as he took a run 6 yards to give Ohio State their first lead of the night.

Michigan State retook possession at their own 25 yard line and that's where Jeremy Langford rushes 34 yards to the Buckeye 41. Facing a 4th down, Connor Cook took an option to the left to pick up the first down. MSU then settled for a field goal to cut the Ohio State lead to 4.
