GameThread: #16 Ohio State at Northwestern

The Buckeyes take their two game win streak into the heart of Cook County Suburbia to face "Chicago's Big Ten Team". Can Ohio State keep their tiny Big Ten Title hopes alive?

If you're looking for an in-depth look at Ohio State's tilt with the Northwestern Wildcats today, check out our preview here. his matchup looks like another mismatch on paper, but recent history would indicate this game will be anything but. Ohio State has struggled a little on the road this season, letting inferior teams like Purdue, Penn State and Nebraska hang around longer than they should. Evanston in particular has been a very tough location for Ohio State recently, as the Buckeyes are 2-1 in their last three trips to Northwestern, with those two wins coming by a combined 3 points.

Northwestern already took Ohio State down to the wire once this season, a 69-59 contest where the Wildcats were only playing with 7 scholarship players. They'll have 7 footer Alex Olah back for this matchup, but they're also coming off three consecutive bad losses, while Ohio State is coming off two consecutive impressive victories, over Michigan State and Minnesota.

This game is a Must Win for Ohio State if they want to cement their hold on a possible 4 seed in the Big Dance, not to mention improve their seeding for the B1G Tournament. Crazy things happen on the Purple Line though, so expect this one to be a war.
