The Vonn Bell saga is finally over, at least on the recruiting front, and the Buckeyes have come out on top to earn his services on the football field. The 5-star safety chose Ohio State in a bit of a surprise pick, one day after naming the Tennessee Volunteers' Bell's favorite. The Bell sweepstakes has been taking place for quite some time, with Ohio State, Alabama and Tennessee right in the thick of things until the very end. Just moments ago, Bell announced his intentions to attend The Ohio State University, giving the class of 2013 26 total commitments.

Bell hails from the Peach State, where the Buckeyes have recently focused their recruiting attention towards. Names like Vonn Bell, '14 LB Raekwon McMillan and plenty of others have been in frequent contact with the Ohio State recruiting staff. With Bell's commitment, one can only imagine the kind of confidence this gives to the staff on how they might fare when trying to recruit the state of Georgia.

Vonn Bell brings exactly what was needed to the depth chart: a hard-hitting safety that can run like the wind. Bell had an impressive showing in late December, at the Under Armour All-American Game, where he was constantly being called for MVP of the game. Eventually, those honors didn't go to him, but the performance put on by Bell was a testament to why he is so highly thought of. A sure tackler, Bell provides a lot of versatility, being able to play at either the safety or corner role, so his spot on the defensive side of the football will be a huge asset going into the 2013 season.

In his senior year, Bell alone had 131 tackles, five tackles for loss and three interceptions. The 5'11", 180-pound athlete has been clocked at a more than respectable 4.45 in the 40-yard dash, proving once again that head coach Urban Meyer and his staff continue to recruit some of the fastest players in America. Safety was an area of concern entering the 2013 class, but with Bell's commitment, Ohio State has some leeway as to who they can go after in the class of 2014.

Bell is the country's No. 3 safety prospect in the 247Sports rankings. In addition to being the country's No. 3 safety prospect, Bell is the country's No. 29 overall prospect and the No. 4 prospect in Georgia.
