Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 3/1 - Kitt trims his list

While Thad Matta prepares the basketball team for a run this March, one Ohio State target championship dreams have been shattered. The football team makes the cut for a stud receiver & a quarterback cancels his weekend visit.

Sophomore guard and Ohio State target Luke Kennard and his Franklin High teammates took on Dayton Dunbar Thursday evening. Kennard and the Wildcats came out to the court faster then a 1970 Nova, taking a 36-31 lead to the half, paced by 16 first half points from the class of 2015 phenom. The second half was pretty much any teams ball game, with Franklin taking a 52-50 lead into the final quarter of play. In the fourth, Dunbar came out swinging and knocked out all championship dreams Luke and Franklin might have had by a final score of 66-63. The 6-5 180 lb 4-star Kennard who finished the his final game of the season with 21 points has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Indiana, Purdue, West Virginia and Xavier to go along with interest from Kentucky, North Carolina and many more.

Now to the gridiron, the recruitment of 2014 junior college offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor has been blowing up as of late. The 6-6 300 lb Lackawanna Community College beast received scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Penn State and Oklahoma this week . Even though Jermaine has so many top programs after him, he has only set up two visits so far, Texas A&M (October 25) and Ohio State (November 23). As Eluemunor plans for his visit another 2014 recruit has cancelled his upcoming Columbus trip. 2014 Virginia quarterback Caleb Henderson had plans to check out the Ohio State campus this weekend but according to reports those plans have been scratched. The Buckeyes have been showing strong interest in the 6-3 220 lb Henderson for months who has offers from programs like Michigan State, Maryland, Illinois and Virginia Tech to name a few.

2014 Georgia wide receiver Demarre Kitt announced his top 15 list on twitter Thursday afternoon. The Buckeyes are one of the teams that are still in the mix for the 6-1 185 four-star stud who visited Columbus in Feburary. finishing off the list are: Georgia, Auburn,Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Ole Miss, USC, Oklahoma State, Oregon, West Virginia, Texas A&M, UCLA and Michigan. Demarre plans to cut his list to 8 or 10 schools in the spring.

A trio of 2014 Ohio State targets from Illinois received scholarships from top programs from across the country Thursday. Tight End Ian Bunting, who received his Buckeye offer earlier this week added one from Missouri. Massive defensive tackle Dylan Thompson who has plans to visit the Columbus later this month was offered by Ole Miss and stud linebacker Clifton Garrett added Florida State and Texas A&M to his long list of potential suitors. All three prospects are a part of Core6, a training and recruiting firm based out of Chicago.
