Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 3/14

While the basketball team prepares for the start of the Big Ten Tournament, their football answer keeps working to lay the ground work for many post seasons yet to come.

The 2013 Big Ten Tournament is just under six hours from its opening tip, but on the football side of things, the season never ends. While we've entered a bit of a slow-ish lull with respect to recruiting, there's still plenty developing on a daily basis. In a world of impulsive 16-18 year olds, you're bound to get *something* interesting on just about a daily basis, and those both targeted by and reciprocating interest in Ohio State seldom fail to answer that call.

Big time 2014 offensive tackle David Sharpe is getting awfully close to an Ohio State offer – at least in his estimation. Sharpe's only been graded out by two of the four major recruiting services, but told Bucknuts ($) Wednesday the Buckeyes staff and his coach have been playing phone tag and that there very well could be an offer on the horizon once they finally sync up. The 6-7 275 pound Jacksonville, FL product also has offers from defending two time national champions, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and others. Though the Buckeyes already have Marcelys Jones and Kyle Trout in the fold, the conventional wisdom has been that the Bucks will add a third tackle to the group, and in the process, effectively neutralize any trepidations about Ohio State offensive line edge depth.

The scuttlebutt for the last few days since Drake Harris first decommitted from Michigan State amongst Wolverine faithful and recruiting analysts that this could be a precursor to a flip to Michigan. But we've been thinking, despite an interest in UM, Florida, and the Buckeyes alike, that OSU has as good of a chance as any. The fine folks again at Bucknuts ($) actually beat us to the punch with a similar line of thinking. Based on both things Harris has been saying and the fact of the matter that he's a ways from even visiting Columbus, it'd be premature to call this thing a done deal in favor of That Team Up North. Stay tuned.

4-star JUCO OL Jermaine Eluemunor recently set a November 23rd date to visit Ohio State for the Indiana game weekend. While Eluemunor's got some other visits scheduled as well (Texas A&M and Arkansas amongst them), the Buckeyes are well positioned for the Scranton, PA native's services. Plus, it certainly doesn't hurt that his Twitter wallpaper is The Incredible Hulk.

We mentioned yesterday that the Buckeyes have made a play for '14 CB C.J. Reavis. The four star defensive back from Chester, Virginia also has offers from just about all of the ACC, but while Ohio State works to better position themselves for the DB, check out what he could potentially bring to the OSU secondary two seasons from now:
