GameThead: (15) Iona vs. (2) Ohio State

After a wild day plus in the West region, Ohio State look to start the march towards a second straight Final Four against the Gaels of Iona. 7:15 p.m. EDT on CBS (Channel 1010 in Columbus on Time Warner)

MoMo Jones, the nation's third leading scorer, could be a headache for the Buckeyes.
MoMo Jones, the nation's third leading scorer, could be a headache for the Buckeyes.

After surviving the tooth-and-nail mandatory Big Ten Conference (and its subsequent post season tournament), the second seeded Ohio State Buckeyes kick off their 2013 NCAA Tournament against the Iona Gaels of the Metro Atlantic in a second round match at University of Dayton Arena this evening.

With the West Region off to an unpredictable start, despite a group with just Evan Ravenel set in stone to depart after the season, a cohesive Ohio State group were able to hit their stride at just the right time and turn a second seed in the Big Ten's post season tournament into a third Big Ten Tournament title in four season.

After beating Nebraska 71-50 in the quarterfinals, Ohio State outlasted Michigan State 61-58 before knocking out the recently eliminated from the NCAAs Wisconsin Badgers to claim the title. Now comes the truly fun part.

The Gaels on the other hand, seek their first NCAA Tournament win in school history. Despite entering as just the four seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament, they hit their stride at just the right time to make their second straight NCAA Tournament. They've only ever won one game against the Big Ten and if they want to advance to play the winner of Notre Dame/Iowa State, they'll have to make that two.

Below is your Iona-Ohio State GameThread. Be cool to each other, and we won't have a problem. GIFs, jokes and jokes and jokes and jokes are always welcome.

Go Bucks.
