Dylan Thompson, a 6-6 270 pound defensive end out of Montini Catholic in Lombard, Illinois, gave Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and the Buckeye coaching staff his verbal commitment while on the Columbus campus Saturday afternoon. The talented Thompson picked the Bucks over offers from the likes of Arkansas, Clemson, Iowa, Mississippi, Indiana and Tennessee to name a few off a rather lengthy list.
Thompson's on field talent hasn't gone unnoticed. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Dylan is the 437th best player in the country, the 19th defensive end prospect, and the 13th best player the state of Illinois has to offer. Thompson is a member of Core 6, a premier training and recruiting firm based out of Chicago that has a ton of other potential Buckeyes affiliated with them.
Dylan becomes the fifth member of an already impressive Ohio State 2014 recruiting class joining talented prospects offensive tackles Marcelys Jones and Kyle Trout, running back Parris Campbell and Michigan defensive back Damon Webb. With a number of high profile targets in Columbus this weekend, it's not out of the question that Ohio State isn't done quite yet.
Thompson first tipped his hand earlier on Saturday when discussing how great his visit to Columbus was going:
This place is amazing!!!!! I love it!!!!
