Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 4/3 - Latest on Maurice Ways, visits

As Ohio State carries on their spring practices, head coach Urban Meyer and the rest of the recruiting staff are busy staying in contact with potential future Buckeyes.

'15 safety Rico McGraw received an offer from the Buckeyes who have taken an early interest in his talent.

It was yet another busy day for recruiting news, especially when it came to announcing upcoming visits. Plenty of '14 recruits and a handful of '15 recruits are preparing to make an unofficial visit to Columbus to see what Coach Meyer and his staff have to offer. Speaking of offers, as Charles mentioned in Tuesday's State Secrets, '15 S Rico McGraw received one yesterday from Ohio State, one of the few athletes to have done so in the class of 2015.

McGraw stands 6'1", 180-pounds and hails from Tennessee, much like '13 S Vonn Bell when he committed to Ohio State on National Signing Day 2013. Amazingly, although it's very early in the process for McGraw, he already boasts over 19 offers from top BCS-level programs including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Missouri, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and many more. Also mentioned was '14 S Steven Parker, who's rated as a 4-star.

'14 WR Maurice Ways spoke with our very own Charles Doss to talk about his recruiting a little bit, and told Charles that overall, his visit went well. Here's a direct quote from Ways himself:

We took a tour of the facilities (Woody Hayes complex), sat in on the position meetings and watched practice. The practice was really great. It was very intense, live, and up tempo! A lot of hard-hitting going on. The coaches are very energetic and fired up, which I loved to see. Coach Meyer told me I'm a good player with high potential but that I need to get bigger and bulk up. I'm going to camp in the summer and they're going to visit me during the evaluation period.

Ways, a 3-star receiver out of Michigan, is ranked as the 9th-best prospect from Michigan and stands in at 6'4", 195-pounds. This past fall, Ways had 51 receptions for 957 yards and nine touchdowns. With another year of experience coming this fall, I believe we could see Ways' offers rise even further. Right now, Ways holds offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Kansas, Toledo and Western Michigan. While he doesn't hold an offer from the Buckeyes, if he has a successful season and/or brings it during the summer camps, there's no reason to believe he couldn't earn one from the staff.

This coming weekend will feature an exciting (and very large) group of recruits including the top player in Ohio for the class of 2014 in '14 ATH Marshon Lattimore. Lattimore confirmed he would be heading down to Columbus on Saturday, which can only be taken as good news as he's also visiting with his parents. Lattimore is definitely one prospect that the Buckeyes would love not to miss out on. Along with the news from Lattimore, '14 OLB/DE Verondtae Wilkinson told reporters that he too will be taking an unofficial visit to Ohio State, but this Thursday instead of this weekend. In 2011, Wilkinson had 50 total tackles and he holds offers from Bowling Green, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Toledo, while also hearing from Michigan and Ohio State.

Finally here's a look at the aforementioned Rico McGraw in action:
