We'd known for over a week that Lawrence Marshall was no longer considering Ohio State. After his hasty commit on an unofficial visit, the second of then three commits on a busy Sunday in early February, Marshall would decommit just two days later, citing a lack of due diligence and the need to further explore his options. He never realistically considered the Buckeyes again.
Even still, it was thought that the 4-star Southfield, MI product was favoring Michigan State. The ordinarily extremely high accuracy 247 Crystal Ball even had Marshall projected at 100% likely to wind up in East Lansing. But during a weekend visit to A^2 not entirely unlike former Ohio State target 4-star WR Drake Harris, Marshall was swayed by his first hand contact with the coaches and gave his verbal commitment to Brady Hoke.
Michigan fans will likely use the occasion to declare victory over both rivals Ohio State and Michigan State, though at least the latter will surely point out that Marshall doesn't exactly have a history of steadfast commitment. At face value, it would seem as though Marshall knew what he was getting into and makes an already good 2014 Wolverines class even better for all the same reasons Ohio State would've gladly accepted his commitment had he stuck by it in the first place.
