Ohio State, Meyer confirm David Perkins "moving on"

After much speculation and rumors (including some third parties undermining the report first reported by Ohio State's 247Sports site, Bucknuts), Urban Meyer has confirmed that sophomore to be linebacker David Perkins is "moving on" from the football team. Per Buckeye Sports Bulletin's Marcus Hartman, Meyer added that there was "no animosity" in Perkins' decision to move on.

While the move leaves Ohio State a bit more shallow in the depth department, as previously discussed, Ryan Shazier, Curtis Grant, and Joshua Perry were the odds on favorites to win the three starting linebacking jobs in all likelihood anyways. With the likes of extremely talented incoming freshmen Mike Mitchell and Trey Johnson arriving on campus sooner rather than later as well, it's possible those repetitions would've grown even more limited.

Though Perkins will move on (and some have speculated that Urban Meyer's former program, Bowling Green, could be a natural landing point for South Bend, Indiana native), we'll at least always have this moment from Student Appreciation Day 2013:
