Ohio State, Cleveland State to enter into three game series says CSU insider

Ohio State's 2013-14 non-conference schedule continues to come into focus with the Vikings of Cleveland State now reportedly set to meet the Buckeyes.

First Ohio, now Cleveland State? According to a Vikings basketball insider, CSU head coach Gary Waters told the mid-major hoops programs' media this past fall that Ohio State would be entering into a three game series with the Horizon League side. Per the notes from the gathering, the Buckeyes will play host to the Vikings during the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons.

The report also states that the Buckeyes will visit CSU's Wolstein Center during the 2014-15 season. The 1991 opened 13,000 seat arena is located in downtown Cleveland. In previous years it's played host to the Horizon League tournament as well as a 2008 Democratic debate.

The Vikings last made the NCAA tournament in 2009 when as a 13-seed they upset fourth seeded Wake Forest. Waters' last few teams have had inconsistent success, having made the NIT's second round in 2011 and the first round in 2012, but failing to reach the postseason following a 14-18 (5-11 in conference play) campaign in 2012-13.

Though the Vikings aren't quite what they were when they had Norris Cole (now of the Miami Heat) in the fold, they should still provide a solid in-state non-conference foe for Thad Matta's Buckeyes during the next several seasons.
