CBS Sports is reporting that Rushel Shell has winnowed down his post-Pitt options, and has Ohio State on his short list, along with Kentucky and West Virginia.
Shell, who was previously thought to be transferring to UCLA, has expressed a desire to remain close to his twin daughters, who live in Hopewell, PA. Both West Virginia and Ohio State offered scholarships to Snell out of high school, and Shell apparently said he actually preferred Ohio State before the program was hit with sanctions and the departure of Jim Tressel. Two of Snell's former teammates, Chris and Demitrious Davis, transferred to Kentucky earlier this month.
The 6-0, 215 pound Shell, a sophomore, ran for 641 yards and 4 TDs on 141 carries for the Pitt Panthers, backing up Ray Graham. The former 5 star recruit will have three years of eligibility remaining.
For what it's worth, Morgantown is by far the closest school, geographically, to Hopewell, if that's the deciding factor. WVU is less than 150 miles away, while Columbus is 294 miles (about a 5 hour drive), and Lexington is 450, or about 7 hours.
SB Nation's Pitt blog, Cardiac Hill, has more on Snell here.
