Ohio State added one of the top players in the class of 2014 today when Montverde Academy shooting guard D'Angelo Russell decided to roll with the Buckeyes over his hometown Louisville Cardinals, North Carolina, Florida, Indiana and plenty of other quality programs.
The smooth 6-4 180 pound Russell is talented enough to play either guard position on the court and adds his name to a top tier Thad Matta recruiting class that already has five star Illinois forward Keita Bates-Diop and Ohio phenoms Jae'Sean Tate of Pickerington Central and Garfield Heights power forward Dave Bell on the list of future OSU ballers.
So far this AAU season on the EYBL circuit, D'Angelo is averaging nearly 14 points, five rebounds and three assists a contest for his Each 1 Teach 1 club. Last season alongside class of 2013 recruits Kasey Hill (Florida) Dakari Johnson (Kentucky) and Devin Williams (West Virginia) he helped lead powerhouse Montverde to a 27-2 record and a National High School Invitational Championship title.
According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Ohio State just landed the 20th best player in the nation, fourth best shooting guard and the second top talent the Sunshine State has to offer, grading him out as a five star prospect.
