A week removed from an alcohol related incident which saw promising freshman tight end Marcus Baugh arrested for under age consumption of alcohol as well as carrying a fake ID, Baugh has been removed from all team activities and will sit out of the first game of the season against the University of Buffalo. Ohio State and Buffalo kick off August 31st at noon in Ohio Stadium.
Following in the tradition of similar punishment handed down to former wide receiver/tight end Jake Stoneburner and left tackle Jack Mewhort, Baugh also lost his summer student aid as a result of the incident. Multiple outlets had been reporting in the past week that Baugh had been locked out of the facilities until he returned to good standing with the program.
Assuming Baugh completes his court ordered community service, he'll have further go to than the more senior, proven Mewhort and Stoneburner did, even with a new staff. Ohio State strength and conditioning coach Mick Marotti reportedly made the entire team run stadium steps in lieu of Baugh's youthful transgression; it's reasonable to suspect the entire team may be hurting after a day like today.
