Ohio State DL Donovan Munger to miss 2013 due to medical condition

Urban Meyer told the media gathered at Sunday's Ohio State Media Day that inbound freshman defensive lineman, Donovan Munger, who'd previously been delayed reporting to fall camp because of NCAA clearinghouse issues, will miss the 2013 football season from complications related to a blood clot. Meyer stated that the Cleveland-area product had been cleared academically, but the health issue will sideline him this coming fall.

With young talent along the lines of Michael Bennett, Billy Price, Joel Hale, Chris Carter, and Tommy Schutt filling the depth charts, Munger's absence might not prove as costly as some other Ohio State newcomers missing extended periods of time could've potentially.

Munger, who checks in at 6-4, 290 pounds, was a 4-star in the 247Composite ratings and headed into Columbus as the 284th best player from the class of 2013. He was also graded out as the 25th best defensive tackle in his class and the 18th best player overall from the state of Ohio. He'll have four years of eligibility remaining after taking a medical redshirt.
