Your 2013 Ohio State pregame pump up playlist

We're only five (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) days away from another season of Buckeye football. While you're watching Fowler, Herbie and Corso make their first of a season of Saturday Selections, might we interest you in some music to get you ready to run through walls?

Get your tailgate game tight with this OSU pump up playlist.

Guys.  GUYS!  It's here.  After all the snow, all the spring, all the heat and and the waiting, college football season is HERE.

This week marks the beginning of what will be a season of ups and downs, highs and lows, and beating Michigan like a rental car with an insurance policy.  For Buckeye fans there are plenty of pre-game rituals in which we all partake.  Whether it's a weekly, Saturday morning breakfast at Jack and Benny's, or maybe a few early morning adult beverages on the banks of the Olentangy, there's really no wrong way to get ready for what we all hope will be an historic second year under Urban Meyer.

But the key to any pre-game ritual is, of course, the music that carries you up until kickoff.  Just as we did last year, it is time for a playlist that will get you ready to run through brick walls and Wolverines alike.  As important as every Buckeye win is this year, second to that will be how jacked the hell up you are for every game.

Here we go.

1. "Chimes and Carmen Ohio" - TBDBITL

We start this year as we start every year: Chimes and Carmen Ohio, played lovingly by your Best Damn Band in the Land.  It's the calm before the storm of rage that not only begins this playlist, but also every Buckeye game in The Shoe.  There's nothing like TBDBITL hitting those chimes to tell you that things are about to happen.  Bad things.  To Buckeye opponents.

2. "Gold on the Ceiling" - The Black Keys

This here is Ohio, y'all.  And The Black Keys are among the best of the best to come out of this state.  Thumping bass line and explosive guitar riffs bring us from the calm of Carmen to the upper echelons of getting ready to kick some Buffalo ass.

3. "Black Skinhead" - Kanye West

We'll let Yeezus check in good and early with his most nuts songs ever, and that's saying something, considering its Kanye we're talking about.  True story: if you are a slow runner (and I am), this song will almost certainly match your gait between 5.0 and 5.5 on a treadmill.  You'll feel like you're running at a 12, though.

4. "The 2nd Law: Unsustainable" - Muse

I've been in the tank for Muse for several years now, and while their newest offering might be a little too BritProgRock for most people's fancies, they don't fail to kick several asses en route to a great pump up high.  If you're not sold, just wait until the 1:30 mark.  Also, Muse are Buckeye fans, or at least they were when they were in Columbus for a show a few years ago, and came out for their encore wearing these.

5. "When the Levee Breaks" - Led Zeppelin

It's a long season.  The Buckeyes are going to (hopefully) play 14 games, the first thirteen (again, hopefully) spread out over 15 weeks.  So Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and company are going to take you to a pump up nirvana with this, their best hard rock anthem (Wayne's World rules apply to that statement).

6. "Across the Field --> Le Reg" - TBDBITL

Admit it.  You love TBDBITL.  And as much fun as watching Braxton Miller do Braxton Miller things will be this year, everyone loves Script OHIO.  I'm an unabashed homer for the band, and this is the reason why.  Also, Sousaphone as a deadly weapon?  Sousaphone as a deadly weapon.

7. "B.O.B." - Outkast

If this song doesn't get your blood pumping at 150 MPH, then you're inhuman.  Perfect for the hour or so before a night game, when you don't think you're going to be able to make it through a three-hour football game.  Add Outkast to the equation and you'll be fine.  Who cares if the fun-time hipsters at our sister site didn't put this on their songs of the millennium list?  Big Boi and Andre 3000 FTW.

8. "Sabotage" - The Beastie Boys

Need a pump up song that also is one of the best 80s Cop sendups in recent memory?  Mike D., Ad-Rock and MCA (#RIP) have you covered on both ends!

9. "Around the World / Harder Better Faster Stronger" - Daft Punk

Before the helmeted spinmasters were blowing off Colbert to stand behind Taylor Swiftt on MTV, they produced a few great pump up songs.  This mashup of what were arguably Daft Punk's most notable songs (before "Get Lucky" took over the wolrd, that is) is exactly what the doctor ordered.  Note the bass drop at 0:31.  If you're playing this at a tailgate, make sure things are up to 11 so that you can satisfyingly destroy the hearing of everyone within a two-block radius.

10. "The Phoenix" - Fallout Boy

Emo bangs and Pete Wentz aside, there is little that Fallout Boy has out into the music world that isn't chock full of pump-you-up goodness, and the lead track on their latest album fits right into that mold.  Once the final notes of this song ring out, you should be more than ready to run from Antarctica all the way into The 'Shoe, without so much as a water break.

The most important thing to note here is that it doesn't matter what you listen to, or what you do to get pumped up.  Knowing that we are just countable hours away from actual, meaningful college football should be more than enough to get ready to roll into the 2013 season.

What's your song of choice for getting ready to watch the Buckeyes?  Let us know in the comments.
